Inter striker Lautaro Martinez could be passed fit to play for his country against Uruguay despite a recent injury scare, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Sport Mediaset, Lautaro Martinez is not suffering from as bad an injury as both Inter and Argentina had initially feared.

The striker played no part at all in Argentina’s 0-0 draw with Paraguay yesterday night because it was reported he had suffered a serious muscle strain injury.

Now it has emerged that the decision to take him out of contention for that game was just a precaution and that he could actually have a role to play in Argentina’s next World Cup qualifier that will be against Uruguay.

This means he could still be a doubt for Inter’s clash with Lazio after the international break as the club does not think the South American contingent will be back in Italy in time for the game.
