Roberto Gagliardini could be granted the third spot in midfield by Simone Inzaghi or the big match against Lazio on Saturday evening, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

As has been reported by Sky Sport, the ex-Atalanta midfielder was training with the team on Thursday and could be asked to play alongside Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella in the midfield.

This is a problem position for Simone Inzaghi as it tends to have been taken by Hakan Calhanoglu but his form has deteriorated over the past few weeks.

The Turk may also be needed further up the pitch as the coach could be without Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa, and Alexis Sanchez for the trip to the Stadio Olimpico.

Matias Vecino may also be unavailable, who would be another candidate to play the role of the third midfielder. This is because of the South American travel issues the club are facing.
