Inter have already decided that Nicolo Barella will take over the captaincy of the team from Samir Handanovic in the near future, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Sardinian midfielder could be the captain of the team as early as next season.

That appears to be in line with when Samir Handanovic will most likely have been replaced in goal by a new signing after the club has lost confidence in his abilities.

As this will reduce his playing time, the captaincy will be moved on to Nicolo Barella. The 24-year-old is going to be offered a new contract by the club as well very soon which will reflect his importance to the team and club.

He is reportedly prepared to spread his salary over a long time period so that the club are not overly financially burdened by the new deal.
