Inter forward Lautaro Martinez was the hero for his national team last night as he scored the winning goal against Peru in a World Cup qualifying match, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by L’Interista, Lautaro Martinez scored what proved to be the winning goal in the match in the 43rd minute.

The goal came initially from an excellent cross by Udinese winger Nahuel Molina, with who Inter were linked with in the summer transfer window.

He crossed the ball into the box and Lautaro Martinez managed to get across the front of his defender and direct a powerful header into the top corner by the near post.

That was the only goal that Argentina needed to get the job done and Lautaro Martinez was substituted in the 85th minute for another Inter striker.

Joaquin Correa was introduced to stretch his muscles and see out the result.
