Simone Inzaghi was rewarded for his decision to rotate the Inter squad against Empoli by the performances of two Inter stars, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the excellent displays from Danilo D’Ambrosio and Alexis Sanchez will have filled Simone Inzaghi with joy as he was able to rest a handful of key starters whilst still getting three points.

Alexis Sanchez started the game in place of Edin Dzeko who has scored seven goals already this season. The Chilean linked perfectly with Danilo D’Ambrosio to open the scoring in the first half. The performance meant Edin Dzeko played just six minutes.

Danilo D’Ambrosio started as part of the back three which allowed Milan Skriniar to be rested for the entire game.

Federico Dimarco and Roberto Gagliardini’s inclusions meant that Ivan Perisic and Hakan Calhanoglu could also have time to recover.
