Matteo Darmian is likely to start the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening instead of Denzel Dumfries, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Simone Inzaghi is continuing with the theme he has shown of putting Matteo Darmian into the starting line up for the matches against teams that can hurt Inter more regularly.

He clearly values the defensive solidity and balance that the former Manchester United and Torino man can bring to the team rather than the attacking pace of Denzel Dumfries in the big games.

The other flank is very likely to be occupied by Ivan Perisic rather than Federico Dimarco. The Croatian has much more experience of big games than the Italian.

The major decision left for Simone Inzaghi to make is whether he chooses Hakan Calhanoglu against his old club or sticks with Arturo Vidal for the match.
