Inter attacker Alexis Sanchez is going to be absent for at least two weeks after sustaining an injury whilst playing for Chile this week, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by gianlucadimarzio.com, the Chilean forward sustained a serious thigh injury during the costly 2-0 defeat against Ecuador, who now look destined to reach the World Cup finals in Qatar in 2022.

Early tests done in Chile suggest the injury is very similar to the one that is keeping Inter defender Stefan de Vrij out of action.

More tests will be undertaken soon in Italy when the player returns to work out the extent of the problem and how long he will be out for. The early signs are that it will be at least two weeks.

This is a blow to Simone Inzaghi who knows he needs depth in attack to keep his options fresh.
