Simone Inzaghi is hoping to become the fourth ever Inter coach to win the Scudetto in his first season with the club by guiding the team to the Serie A title this season,

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that the 45-year-old would join the likes of Alfredo Foni, Giovanni Invernizzi, and Jose Mourinho if he were to accomplish the feat.

Numerous great coaches have passed through the doors at Inter, and many have won the Scudetto there, with Antonio Conte’s win last season putting him in the same company as Giovanni Trapattoni, Helenio Herrera, and Roberto Mancini among others.

However, the only coaches to have come straight in and reached the summit have been Foni in the 1953-54 season, Invernizzi in the 1970-71 season, and Mourinho in the 2008-09 season.

Inzaghi is now well on his way to doing the same, with the Nerazzurri four points clear at the top of the table with just over half of the season left to play, and he could join esteemed company.
