Inter are considering a move for Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar in January, as a backup option to Marcelo Brozovic in the squad.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 23-year-old could become a serious target should Stefano Sensi leave the club on loan.

Brozovic is one of the most irreplaceable players in the Nerazzurri squad, with no other players having the profile to directly fill in for him should he be injured or need a rest.

Villar has not featured as much under current Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho as he had under Paulo Fonseca, and he could be allowed to leave in January.

However, it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri would be able to convince the Giallorossi on a move for the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, a loan swap between Villar and Vecino with Roma does not currently appear to be likely.
