Roberto Gagliardini looks to be the favourite to start in place of the suspended Hakan Calhanoglu in midfielder for Inter against Bologna on Thursday.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 27-year-old is ahead of Arturo Vidal in the thinking of head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Calhanoglu picked up a yellow card in the Nerazzurri’s last match before the winter break, a 1-0 win over Torino, and this was the last card before being suspended for an accumulation of bookings.

Accordingly, the in-form Turk will miss Inter’s first match back from the break, an away trip to Emilia-Romagna to face Bologna.

Gagliardini, who has already started a few matches in the league this season as part of the rotation, looks to be favoured over Vidal, who started his first Serie A match of the campaign against Torino, to take Calhanoglu’s place taking on the Rossoblu.
