Inter could be set to miss out on River Plate striker Julian Alvarez as Premier League club Manchester United prepare to meet his release clause this month.

This according to Spanish news outlet Sport, who report that the Red Devils are aiming to beat out the competition of Inter and several other clubs to sign the 21-year-old.

Alvarez has been the form player in the Argentine domestic league, scoring for River at a rate of nearly a goal per game.

This form in front of goal has seen the young Argentine attract the interest of a number of top European clubs, including the Nerazzurri as well as Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

However, it now looks to be United who will activate the €25 million release clause contained in the 21-year-old’s contract with the Argentine giants to win the race for his signature, according to Sport.
