Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi still has ambitions to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to add quality to the Nerazzurri’s midfield.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero, who report that the 26-year-old is a major transfer target for Inzaghi as well as Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta, although he wouldn’t come cheap.

Milinkovic-Savic was one of the Biancocelesti’s most important players under Inzaghi, and the capital club even turned down financially significant offers for the Serb at the request of the coach.

The midfielder has been in good form under new Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri this season, scoring five goals so far in Serie A, and the Biancocelesti see him as a valuable asset.

Lazio would not likely accept a bid lower than €80-100 million for Milinkovic-Savic, and the Nerazzurri would also have to compete with the likes of Juventus and Manchester United for his signature.

However, the club are still ready to make the 26-year-old a long-term target to reunite him with his old manager.
