Italian journalist Luca Marchetti has said that Inter kept trying to play past Juventus right up until the final kick of the Supercoppa Italiana final, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport in Italy after the match on Wednesday night, via L’Interista, Luca Marchetti explained that Inter were the team playing more attractive football and they kept doing this right up until the end of the 120 minutes.

Inter after an intense match, fought on every ball, lively until the end, won the super cup. They tried harder than Juve to play the game, they tried until the end to put the opponent under. And Juve, who wasn’t playing the underdog role, made it as difficult as possible.”

There was praise for Juventus though who made it incredibly hard for Inter to find the winning goal in the regulation 90 minutes.

Juve believed in it, pulled out energy that maybe they didn’t even think they had. They took the lead, they thought they had made it to the penalties. And instead, Alexis Sanchez appeared at the last second available to give the cup to the Nerazzurri.”

Juventus went 1-0 up in the first half thanks to a header from Weston McKennie but a Lautaro Martinez penalty shortly afterwards meant the two teams went into half time at 1-1.

Despite creating many chances, Inter could not find the winner until Alexis Sanchez poked home with the final kick of the game in extra time.
