Inter striker Lautaro Martinez scored the winning goal for Argentina against Alexis Sanchez’s Chile side last night, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FCInternews, it was Lautaro Martinez who took the spoils against Alexis Sanchez. They beat La Roja 2-1 which has seriously damaged Chile’s hopes of making the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

Paris Saint Germain forward Angel Di Maria opened the scoring before Chile found an equaliser. Then Lautaro Martinez scored in the second half to secure all three points for his side.

Matias Vecino was also involved in World Cup qualifier action with Uruguay who beat Paraguay 1-0 to improve their chances of making the tournament in Qatar.

Matias Vecino picked up a yellow card in that game for a foul on Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron and that means that he is suspended for the next game and can return to Italy early.
