Inter are ready to step up their pursuit of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi before the January transfer window slams shut.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri want to make a push for the 22-year-old in order to beat their rivals to his signature and avoid a summer auction.

Frattesi has emerged as the Nerazzurri’s principal target to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season, and they want to get a deal wrapped up for him as soon as possible.

Juventus in particular could rival Inter for Frattesi’s signature, and the Nerazzurri are keen to secure the 22-year-old in order to avoid having to compete with other clubs for his signature when June rolls around.

Sassuolo do not want to part ways with the midfielder mid-season, while accommodating his wages in the wage bill could prove very difficult meaning that a move for the player this month would prove very improbable.

However, the Nerazzurri are still intending to make a push for Frattesi, also in view of a move for him in the summer.
