Former Inter striker Christian Vieri feels that the Nerazzurri were the dominant side in the first half of Saturday’s derby, but AC Milan earned their victory by never giving up.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Vieri praised the Nerazzurri’s first-half display but also emphasized that the Rossoneri showed great fight and determination to come back late on in the match.

Inter looked confident and well-organized for the first half of the derby, with the Rossoneri having no answer for their performance as they dictated the tempo of the match and created more and better chances than their city rivals.

However, the second half proved to be a different story, as the Rossoneri gradually woke up and pushed for a goal, never looking like they had been demoralized by the Nerazzurri’s early dominance.

In the end, a quickfire brace from Olivier Giroud turned the game on its head and meant that Milan were rewarded for their efforts with three vital points taken off the Nerazzurri in the Scudetto race.

Vieri sated that is had been a “Great first half from Inter. There was no contest, the Nerazzurri could have scored three or four goals goals. You could see they were too strong for their opponents.”

“But then the game was a bit strange,” he went on, “the tempo decreased, they became less aggressive, while Milan had more enthusiasm, even physically, and in the end they grabbed two goals.”

“Up unntil the equalizer, Giroud had hardly touched the ball,” he went on. “I did not expect Inter to try and manage the game as they did, while Milan did well to never give up.”
