Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni is irate with having been handed a two-match Serie A ban after his comments to a referee in the aftermath of Saturday’s Milan derby.

In a social media message, as reported by FCInter1908, the 22-year-old vented his frustration at what he sees as the excessive harshness of the punishment for his infringement made official by the Sporting Justice in Italy today.

Bastoni confronted the match officials after the Nerazzurri’s derby loss to AC Milan as tensions spilled over and he felt that the refereeing had gone against his team during the loss.

Today’s official report from Lega Serie A revealed that the defender will have to miss two matches for his outburst, while coach Simone Inzaghi was also fined and will serve a one-match touchline suspension for his words to the official.

Bastoni is angry with the severity of the punishment, however, and feels that his words were nowhere near serious enough to warrant such a lengthy suspension.

“The words that were so horrible and insulting were just ‘you sucked’ to an assistant referee,” he wrote sarcastically.
