Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio feels that the team showed their resilience amid pressure and criticism by beating Roma in the Coppa Italia yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, the 33-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri felt that they hadn’t deserved to lose to AC Milan over the weekend, and showed it by beating the Giallorossi.

D’Ambrosio came into the team to face Roma, and put in a typically solid shift at the back to help his team to a clean sheet and a win to make it to the semi-finals of the competition.

The defender was pleased to have bounced back from the derby disappointment and kept their performance levels at their highest to move onto the next round.

He isn’t bothered by criticism or pressure, and feels that they are an inevitable part of life at a top club such as Inter, and ready to be called upon when the coach puts his trust in him.

“It is never easy to be ready,” he said of coming into the starting eleven, “the important thing is to always train at 100%.”

On his teammate Milan Skriniar, he said that “He’s very good, we are a team of top players and guys who have great footballing as well as personal qualities.”

He added that “Criticism is part of the game. We’re still bitter because we lost a derby when we didn’t deserve to, but we’re used to it at Inter, especially those of us who have been here for years.”

“When there’s a problem, it is always Inter’s fault,” he continued. “But we only look at ourselves, we keep following our own path.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s massive Serie A clash with Napoli, D’Dambrosio pointed out that “They’ll have the whole week to prepare for this match, we’ll start thinking about it now.”
