Inter are hoping that Alessandro Bastoni will recover from injury in time to play against Liverpool in the Champions League next week, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the club are relieved that the injury he sustained in the Coppa Italia victory over AS Roma on Tuesday does not appear to be as serious as initially feared.

The ankle seems to be sprained rather than the ligaments being damaged which is why they hope to keep him in physiotherapy until Saturday and then see if he can recover for the Champions League match on Wednesday.

Inter have decided to appeal the suspension that the defender picked up at the end of the derby defeat last weekend. They want it reduced to one game rather than two.

That is significant as it suggests that they expect him to be fit soon so it is worth appealing the suspension.
