Simone Inzaghi may decide to start the match against Liverpool next week with Matias Vecino rather than Arturo Vidal, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, Simone Inzaghi must decide who will play in the midfield against Liverpool in place of the suspended Nicolo Barella.

Arturo Vidal has often been first in line to replace any of the usual midfield three but in his recent appearances, he has not impressed as much as many would have liked.

That leaves the door open for a surprise start for Matias Vecino who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Roberto Gagliardini is another player that is in with a shout but he must impress Simone Inzaghi in training ahead of the match if he is to take part in one of the biggest games in the Nerazzurri’s season so far.
