Nicolo Barella looks set to be the player who replaces Marcelo Brozovic in the vital deep-lying midfield role against Sassuolo with the Croat suspended.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will look to use the 25-year-old in the holding midfield role for the match.
Brozovic has started every one of Inter’s Serie A matches so far, and the 29-year-old has played a crucial role both on and off the ball at the base of midfield.
However, with the Croat having picked up a suspension through accumulation of yellow cards, Inzaghi will have to find a solution to cope without him, and should reprise a tactic he has used a times when Brozovic has been substituted.
Barella will play in the deep-lying role, while Roberto Gagliardini looks set to come in on the left of midfield ahead of Arturo Vidal, and Hakan Calhanoglu should also start.
