Hakan Calhanoglu and Stefan de Vrij are set to start the match against Salernitana this evening despite suggestions that they would be rested, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.
As has been reported by Sky Sport in Italy, via FCInternews, Stefan de Vrij has overcome the physical issues that he was exhibiting in training this week and is set to take his usual place in the starting eleven with Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni alongside him.
It had been rumoured that he would be rested by Simone Inzaghi with Andrea Ranocchia taking his place in the team.
Similarly, it was expected that Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu would be rested ahead of the Liverpool match midweek with Roberto Gagliardini taking his place in the side.
That no longer seems to be the case. The Italian midfielder will start from the bench but may be introduced later on.
