New Inter Hall of Fame Inductee Wesley Sneijder has said that it is beautiful to be back at San Siro to receive his latest honour, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Inter TV ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Friday night match with Salernitana, via FCInternews, the former Dutch midfielder opened up about his first time back at San Siro since his playing days at Inter.

“This is the first time I have returned to the stadium, it is different and perhaps it is even more beautiful. It’s great to be back in San Siro.”

Wesley Sneijder is at the match as he is one of the former Inter players that was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame during 2021. Those who were chosen by the fans are being awarded the honour on the pitch.

On the accolade, the Dutchman said that it is an honour to be on the list with great players like Samuel Eto’o and Marco Materazzi.

“What will I feel when I collect the prize? It is a great honour to be on a list with so many strong players and in such a big club. It is a very exciting thing. To the fans, I just say ‘Sempre Forza Inter, dai’.”

Wesley Sneijder was an important part of the Inter team that won the treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010.
