Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic will remain at the club next season and will still be the number one goalkeeper, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported today by Tuttosport, the Slovenian goalkeeper is still in talks with the club to extend his contract and it is thought that an agreement will be reached relatively soon.

With the imminent arrival of Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana from Ajax on a free transfer, many assumed that should Samir Handanlovic stay, it will be as the backup goalkeeper.

Tuttosport believes that he would actually stay as the number one goalkeeper and the new signing would learn under him before eventually becoming the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

The thinking is that the Cameroonian will need to earn his place in the starting eleven under Simone Inzaghi rather than joining the club and immediately walking straight into the Nerazzurri team.
