Inter are set to delay making a decision to offer new contracts to goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and wing-back Ivan Perisic, as they weigh up the best interests of the club.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are planning for next season and have pushed new contracts for the pair down the list of priorities.

Whilst the will to continue with both players is there from both sides, Inter are avoiding being rushed into making a decision and will consider all options before committing to offering new deals.

With both players out of contract in the summer, a failure to reach an agreement would see them released, but this is still not enough to prompt the club to rush the process.

Indeed, the impending arrival of Andre Onana from Ajax has made it less crucial to tie Handanovic down to an extension, with the Cameroon international expected to become first choice goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, January signing Robin Gosens has returned to full fitness and could replace Perisic at left wing-back, removing the urgency in reaching an agreement with the Croatian.
