Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic would like a longer contract than the one Inter have initially offered him, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter have so far only offered the Slovenian goalkeeper a deal that would keep him at the club for one more season after this current campaign.

The club captain would like a two-year contract. It is not clear whether this will be much of a stumbling block for Inter but it is reassuring for both parties that negotiations are ongoing.

Samir Handanovic is out of contract at the end of this season but he would like to stay at the club and help with the transition for Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Given he will likely end up becoming the backup goalkeeper, it is thought that the new contract will feature a wage reduction as his playing time decreases.
