Inter will not trigger the automatic renewal option on Andrea Ranocchia’s contract at the end of the season but he could still stay at the club, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.

As has been reported on Sky Sport by Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInter1908, there is an option to automatically extend Andrea Ranocchia’s contract by one year but Inter have told the player that they will not be using it.

That does not necessarily mean that the player will be leaving the club at the end of the season but it does suggest that Inter want to change the terms of his agreement.

The veteran defender has filled in when required by Simone Inzaghi this season and it is believed that he would like to stay at the club beyond the end of this season when his contract expires.

The player’s agent and the club will meet at the end of the season to see what can be arranged.
