Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has said that the Nerazzurri believed until the very end against Juventus on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media last night.

Speaking during an interview after the game with Sky Sport, via FCInternews, Stefan de Vrij said that despite knowing it would be a really tough test for the team, Inter kept believing they would win all the way through the Coppa Italia final.

“We believed in it until the end. We knew it would be tough.”

The Dutch defender also added that the team spent a lot of time celebrating on the pitch after the full-time whistle.

“We are very satisfied. We spent a lot of time on the pitch celebrating.”

Inter went 1-0 up very early in the final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome thanks to a goal from Nicolo Barella. Strikes from Alex Sandro and Dusan Vlahovic at the start of the second half meant that Inter went 2-1 down.

A Hakan Calhanoglu penalty took the game to extra time and then Ivan Perisic scored twice to clinch the trophy.
