Inter could hold a meeting with Romelu Lukaku’s representative as early as tomorrow on a potential loan return to the Nerazzurri for the 29-year-old this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri could seek a two-year loan that would become a permanent deal in 2024 for the Belgian.
Lukaku’s move to Chelsea has not worked out based on his first season back in the Premier League, and the 29-year-old is pushing for a return to the Nerazzurri.
The striker would need to slash the wages he currently earns, while convincing the Blues to sanction a loan move, the only formula which the Nerazzurri would be able to afford, could be tough.
However, Lukaku is fully serious about trying to make the return happen, and his lawyer Sebastien Ledure is set to meet with the Nerazzurri possibly as early as tomorrow to update on the situation.
A possible formula for the deal would be a two-season loan, with an informal agreement as new regulations only permit one-season loan deals.
However, the player has made clear that if he were to move to Inter he would have no desire to go back to Chelsea, so the understanding would be that he would be loaned out for two seasons and then the move would be made a permanent one in the summer of 2024.
