Inter are expecting that striker Romelu Lukaku will be the one to do much of the communicating with his club Chelsea trying to persuade them to sanction a summer transfer back to Inter on loan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta will ask that the Belgian does the “dirty work” of convincing the Blues’ owners on a deal.
Lukaku’s strong determination to return to Inter just one season after he left appears to be a driving force in the increasing possibility of a move this summer, while the change in ownership at Chelsea has thrown things up in the air.
The Nerazzurri could agree personal terms with the Belgian, but would then have to find a suitable formula on a deal with his current club, likely a one-year loan with the implicit expectation of another one-year loan and then a permanent transfer to spread the costs out.
The 29-year-old’s fractured relationship with Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel and his failure to settle in and find form in his first season at the club could be enough to make the Premier League cut their losses and agree a deal with Inter, but the Nerazzurri are expecting the player to be the one to make the case.
