Inter decided to entertain the idea of selling Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint Germain this summer because he is the easiest top player in the squad to replace, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, the Slovakian defender has a profile that Inter feel they can find elsewhere for a cheaper fee than the €70 million that they hope to get from the Ligue 1 champions for his services.

Inter are by no means excited about the prospect of losing Milan Skriniar this summer but they see him as the best chance to end the summer with a profit of €60 million from the market.

They chose him because Alessandro Bastoni’s characteristics make him a unique type of defender and Lautaro Martinez has become even more central to Inter’s plans with the return of Romelu Lukaku.

Nicolo Barella could have been an option but Inter are happy with their midfield starters.
