The upcoming season is set to be a big one for Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, who has established himself as a central part of the plans at the Nerazzurri as well as with the Italian national team.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the club see the 23-year-old as a key man to build around for the future after he has decisively rejected all offers for a move a away.
Bastoni had been linked with a possible big money sale this summer, with former Inter coach Antonio Conte particularly keen to bring him to Tottenham Hotspur, but the defender made perfectly clear that he has no interest in leaving for any offer.
Moreover, the 23-year-old’s unique profile makes him an important player in the tactical plans of coach Simone Inzaghi, as he had been under Conte in the seasons prior.
Now, the feeling within the club is that Bastoni can continue to get better, while Italian national team coach Roberto Mancini also believes that the sky is the limit as far as the young defender’s potential.
