Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has asked the club to target Francesco Acerbi from his old club Lazio as the replacement for Andrea Ranocchia at the heart of the defense.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri coach would like to reunite with the 34-year-old as the low-cost signing to complete the defense for next season.
Inter will sign another defender before the transfer window, with Ranocchia having left for Monza leaving a hole in the squad in the form of a real central defensive option to deputize for Stefan de Vrij.
A number of options such as Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, Atalanta’s Merih Demiral, and Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji have been linked, but all of these players would be out of budget for the role of Ranocchia replacement.
On the contrary, Acerbi could arrive quite reasonably priced, and given that Inzaghi has worked with him for three seasons whilst in charge of the Biancocelesti, he is a player who would be welcome for the coach.
