Inter are set to pay Alexis Sanchez €5 million in severance pay and the departure could be announced as early as today, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have held a series of meetings with the agent of the Chilean forward and they are now extremely close to settling his contract.

Some small details still remain but they have come to an agreement of €5 million which factors in some outstanding salary payments from the 2020/21 Covid-19 affected season.

The official announcement on the termination of his contract could come as early as Friday and that would then allow him to move to Marseille, having already agreed on terms with the Ligue 1 side.

By terminating the contract of Alexis Sanchez, Inter will have achieved one of their market goals which was to reduce the wage bill by 10%.
