Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has overtaken Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji as Inter’s priority signing to reinforce the defense before the transfer window closes.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are increasingly moving towards trying and sign the Englishman whilst signing Akanji would be more difficult.

Inter have yet to settle on the identity of their final signing of the summer transfer window, a low-cost defensive arrival to complete the defensive depth and back up Stefan de Vrij after Andrea Ranocchia left at the beginning of the summer.

The Nerazzurri’s list has now been whittled down to just a few names, and whilst Akanji remains a target, they are now increasingly looking at signing Chalobah on loan.

The 23-year-old has been personally recommended to the Nerazzurri by striker Romelu Lukaku who spent a season playing alongside him in the English capital, and so they could try and get a loan deal done for him in the next week before the transfer window slams shut.
