Inter would be able to sign Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi on a free loan, but they continue to wait to see what happens with Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri would have the go-ahead to loan in Acerbi with only some nominal add-ons in the deal.
Inter have lined up Acerbi as a backup signing in the event that they are unable to sign Chalobah, whilst Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji is also on their radar but would be difficult to sign.
After the latest meeting with Acerbi’s agent yesterday, it has emerged that the Biancocelesti would be willing to sanction a loan of Acerbi without a fee, perhaps including some minor add-ons linked to team performance.
Meanwhile, the player himself is keen on making the switch and would be willing to forego some of his wages owed by Lazio in order to make the deal more feasible for both clubs.
However, the Nerazzurri are still in no rush as they are waiting to see if they will be able to sign Chalobah, and a move for Acerbi would not likely be completed until early next week.
