Inter could resume their pursuit of Borussia Gladbach forward Marcus Thuram in June, but only if he does not renew his current contract with the German club.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Frenchman remains on the Nerazzurri’s radar for next summer.
Negotiations had at one point looked to be well underway between Inter and Gladbach for Thuram’s signature.
Towards the end of last summer’s transfer window, the Nerazzurri were in talks with the German side for Thuram’s signature, with a deal worth around €25 million looking to be fairly close.
Meanwhile, the Frenchman was reportedly keen on making the switch.
However, a knee injury to the player in a Bundesliga match against Union player caused him to be out for a couple months, and the Nerazzurri’s pursuit ended as they instead signed Joaquin Correa from Lazio.
Thuram is still a player who Inter admire, however, and he has continued his development in the past season and change without injury issues.
Inter could look to sign the forward next summer, particularly in the event that Edin Dzeko leaves at the end of his current contract.
However, this would likely only be feasible on a financial level if the 25-year-old, who has also attracted interest from the Premier League, does not extend his current deal.
