Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi believes that Inter could try to sign Borussia Monchengladbach wingback Ramy Bensebaini as early as the January transfer window if Robin Gosens is to leave the club.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Barzaghi explained that the Nerazzurri’s strategy could be to try and sign the Algerian for a fee to beat out the competition that may emerge to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Should Gosens leave Inter, the Nerazzurri will certainly be going in search of a replacement for the 28-year-old.

Bensebaini is a name who has been on Inter’s radar for left-sided wingbacks for some time.

The 27-year-old’s current contract with Gladbach is set to expire at the end of June 2023.

If Gosens is to already be on his way in January, however, then Inter could decide to use the fee received for the former Atalanta wingback to invest in a move for Bensebaini rather than waiting until his contract expires when more suitors come forward.

“Should Gosens decide to return to Germany, Inter would have the opportunity to try to sign Bensebaini, trying to beat the competition of any other interested clubs trying to bring him in on a free transfer in June,” Barzaghi explained.

“There’s also talk of loaning in 19-year-old Jesus Vazquez from Valencia, whilst Villarreal’s Pedraza is also on their radar, although he would cost €20 million.”
