Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi made the decisive decision on Andre Onana as the starting goalkeeper for the team over captain Samir Handanovic after contrasting performances by the duo at the start of October.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the coach based his decision on the displays by the pair against Barcelona and Roma respectively.

Inzaghi had looked ready to alternate between starting Onana and Handanovic in the Champions League and Serie A respectively over the first few weeks of the season.

However, the coach was increasingly impressed by what he saw from Onana in Europe, especially the clean sheet that the Cameroonian kept in a 1-0 win over Barcelona at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, Handanovic made a costly error to allow Roma to score in a Serie A loss around the same time.

It was these two moments that really made Inzaghi’s mind up for him, according to the Corriere.
