Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will take advantage of a winter training camp in Malta to focus on improving the defensive aspects of the team.

According to FCInter1908.it, the Nerazzurri coach has identified the getaway in Malta as a chance to catch up on work that was not able to be done during preseason training in the summer, as the Serie A season pauses for the World Cup break.

Inzaghi will have his preferred defensive trio available to him in Italian pair Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, as well as Milan Skriniar of Slovakia, with neither national team qualifying for the World Cup.

Skriniar missed a chunk of preseason through injury and Inzaghi was not able to work with the trio together in the summer, particularly as Acerbi had only just arrived from Lazio on the eve of the season.

With Inter away in Malta from 4-9 December, the coach has an opportunity to develop his defensive ideas more clearly and prepare them for the resumption of the campaign in January.

Inzaghi will also be able to work with midfielders Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as well as wingbacks Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco to bolster the defensive understanding throughout the team,
