Chelsea may be ready to bring Romelu Lukaku back from his loan spell at Inter next summer in order to cash in on the striker.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Belgium international’s unconvincing return to the Nerazzurri this season could put paid to any hopes of him returning next term, with Inter losing interest in taking on the risk of bringing Lukaku back after he featured for just 256 minutes since August.

The former Manchester United striker is determined to remain with the Nerazzurri and repay the club after a poor campaign, whilst accepting that he made a mistake in leaving them for Chelsea in a Serie A record €115 million deal in 2021.

However, Inter are considering moving on from him next season, and Chelsea may also have different plans for the 29-year-old.

With new owner Todd Boehly replacing Roman Abramovich, the Stamford Bridge club could be set for a change in strategy and Lukaku may find himself recalled next summer, with a view to a permanent sale.

Chelsea are keen to recoup as much of the transfer fee as possible, which would rule Inter out of any deal to bring Lukaku back to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
