Inter are set to offer a two-season contract extension to defender Stefan de Vrij at the same wages that he currently earns.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to offer the 30-year-old a new deal with wages equal to the €4 million net per season that he currently earns.

De Vrij’s current contract is set to run out at the end of June 2023, but the Nerazzurri are not keen to allow the Dutchman to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

Rather, the club are getting ready to offer the former Lazio and Feyenoord defender a new contract, which would take him until the end of June 2025.

De Vrij would not be offered a wage increase according to the Gazzetta, but also not a reduction.

The club will soon make de Vrij their offer, and then await his response.
