Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries took to Social Media to reflect on the Netherlands’ elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Dumfries and his Dutch teammates were knocked out in a penalty shootout against Argentina on Friday, after a fiery quarter-final that saw the ex-PSV Eindhoven man sent off during the spot kicks.
Taking to Twitter, Dumfries thanked his teammates and was philosophical about his side’s exit, admitting that football had the power to bring out every emotion.
“Football is a beautiful sport that brings out all kinds of emotions. Last night was no different and that is part of the game. I want to thank my teammates and staff whom I shared this great journey with. I really appreciate our team spirit and the way we fought till the end,” Dumfries wrote.
