Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s return to full match fitness and peak physical condition is going according to plan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Belgian is keeping up with the pace his teammates are setting in training, with today’s session to be another test of where he is at.

Lukaku returned to Inter training over the weekend, after a disappointing World Cup with Belgium that was marred by a lack of fitness.

The 29-year-old’s aim is to use the rest of the World Cup break to slowly work his way back into his best possible physical condition.

So far Lukaku has been working on course as far as the expected progress of his physical recovery, and in today’s training session the tempo of the work should be ramped up further.

Today’s session will be a further test of Lukaku’s fitness, and could be decisive in determining whether or not he is fit to appear in Saturday’s friendly match against Real Betis.
