Striker Romelu Lukaku managed 86 minutes and a goal in Inter’s friendly clash with Reggina yesterday, but looked far from fully in sync with his teammates.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that the 29-year-old showed flashes of what he’s capable of, but nothing more than that.
Lukaku took to the pitch in an Inter shirt for the first time since October in yesterday’s 2-0 win over Reggina, and the fact that the Belgian managed to play nearly a full ninety minutes was encouraging.
The 29-year-old got his goal late on in the match, and his movement and striking instincts were on show in moments.
However, the Gazzetta argues, there was no disguising the rust on Lukaku’s game, and the fact that the chemistry is not yet there with the team as far as getting onto the end of deliveries so that he can be a decisive presence in front of goal.
