It is far from certain that defender Stefan de Vrij will extend his contract with Inter past the end of June 2023.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who reported this afternoon that there is a very real possibility that the Dutchman will decide against accepting the Nerazzurri’s contract extension offer.

After Milan Skriniar’s contract situation is dealt with, Inter will have to move on to the situations around several other players who see their deals run out at the end of June 2023.

De Vrij is foremost among these players, and the 30-year-old former Lazio and Feyenoord defender is certainly a player whose future the Nerazzurri will make an effort to secure.

A new deal could be agreed with de Vrij, but it is far from certain.

The coming weeks are set to be decisive for the Dutchman to make a decision on his future and respond to Inter’s offer.
