Inter look to have laid down a marker for the Milan derby with their emphatic win over AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana yesterday evening.

This is the assessment in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who argue that “the future looks blue and black” after the Nerazzurri thoroughly outclassed their city rivals to win the Supercoppa.

Inter will meet Milan again in just over two weeks’ time in Serie A, and based on yesterday evening’s match, they will be going into that match high on confidence.

The Rossoneri, by contrast, will be reflecting on how they can make up what looked to be a wide disparity in quality in just half a month of preparation.

Inter looked sharper, hungrier, and more organized all over the pitch to hand the Rossoneri a humbling defeat, the kind of scoreline that really stands out in a fixture as historically competitive as the Milan derby.
