Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will once again play regularly in the left-sided midfield role now that Marcelo Brozovic is back in the team.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 28-year-old will not likely retain his new spot at the base of the midfield trio, as Brozovic will return as the deepest-lying midfielder.

During Brozovic’s absence through injury, Calhanoglu has established himself as the first-choice regista in Inter’s midfield trio.

The Turk has looked to be more than a stopgap solution, as he has put in outstanding performances in the role throughout the past several months.

The fact that Brozovic is finally fit to start again could lead to some questions regarding exactly how the balance in the centre of the pitch will change.

According to the Gazzetta, however, the likeliest outcome is simply that Brozovic will return to the regista sport, whilst Calhanoglu’s main role will once again be as the left-sided mezzala.
