Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has come in for some harsh criticism in Italian media for his missed chances in yesterday evening’s Serie A draw against Sampdoria.

The Argentine received a score of just 4.5/10 in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908, who particularly highlight the presentable opportunities that he whiffed at as reasons for the low grade.

Martinez has arguably been Inter’s in-form player since the team’s return from the winter break, with seven goals so far since the start of January, but this positive run came to a halt at the Marassi.

The 25-year-old did get on the end of a couple very good chances to break the deadlock for his team, but lost his bearings on both occasions, kicking at thin air.

Apart from these moments, Martinez did not impact the match nearly as much as will have been expected, and for Tuttosport, he was well below par.
