Italian journalist Fabio Caressa feels that whilst Porto will not be a straightforward opponent for Inter in the Champions League round of sixteen, they will be manageable.
Speaking to Italian news outlet FootballNews24, via FCInterNews, the journalist stressed that striker Romelu Lukaku can be the Nerazzurri’s key player in the clash with the Portuguese champions.
Inter will hardly be underestimating Porto, a team who knocked city rivals AC Milan out at the group stage of last season’s edition of the Champions League and topped a group containing Club Brugge, Bayer Leverkusen, and Atletico Madrid this time around.
The Portuguese champions have a style of play that will not make it easy for the Nerazzurri to impose themselves in midfield or find space to play in.
However, for Caressa’s part, the journalist expects that Inter have every opportunity to rely on their quality and go through to the quarterfinals of the competition, particularly if Lukaku impacts the two-legged tie.
“Porto are a very tricky team who always manage to find excellent players, they’re not an easy team to beat,” he stated.
“But Inter, especially if Romelu Lukaku manages to find his rhythm, have every chance of going through.”
